He gained critical acclaim for his Soul Controllers mashup cd compilations and was presented with a Justo's Award in NYC. His projects have featured guest appearances by artists such as 50 cent, Sean Paul, Busta Rhymes, Wycleff, Vybz Kartel and many more. His productions have been featured in the NY TIMES, Complex mag, Fader etc. and he has produced tracks played by djs worldwide including his work on Mims platinum "Why I'm Hot" remix, Knaan's World Cup Anthem "Waving Flag", "Bang Bang" feat. Adam Levine from Maroon 5 and “Right There” Nicole Scherzinger ft. 50 cent. Other tracks include “Fly So High” with Machel Montano and Kardinal Offishall, “Makeup” with Vybz Kartel, “Skyrocket” with Walshy Fire (Major Lazer), “Warriors” with Junior Reid and “Reason to Live” with Honorebel which reached #3 in Italy. Power has appeared on numerous tv and radio stations such as MTV, VH1, MUCHMUSIC, BBC UK, FLOW 93.5fm Canada, JAPAN FM NETWORK, SBS (Australia) and more. Power is famous for his live remixing and mashup blending of Trap, Edm, Hip Hop, House, Top 40, Dancehall/Reggae, Rock, Salsa and Soca and has rocked parties at the most famous clubs and festivals including opening up for platinum group Chainsmokers at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii. He has performed at famous venues such as Club Marquee (NYC and Sydney), Muzik (Toronto), Blue Frog (Mumbai), G + (Shangai), and many more including Las Vegas, Miami, London, Kingston, Auckland, Bermuda, Curacao, Montreal, Virgin Islands, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Houston, and Dallas to name a few. He has toured Asia and Australia numerous times and has dj'd parties hosted by P Diddy, Spike Lee, 50 cent, Ny Giants and more as well as tour dj’d for Pop/Reggae superstar Junior Reid of “One Blood” fame. Power is featured in a movie theatre commercial for Caterpillar and MIMS. He is currently finishing up his new EP. Dj Power is a native of Toronto, Canada and born to Trinidadian parents. His first dj crew the Soul Controllers first radio spot was Toronto’s college station CIUT 89.5 “Masterplan show”. Under Soul Controllers he released his acclaimed “Reggae Meets Hip Hop” Cd series a mashup fusion of Dancehall/Reggae Hip Hop, House and Classics. In 2003 he joined Toronto’s Flow 93.5fm “Trauma Unit” as radio dj and host. In 2004 Soul Controllers received a Justo’s mixtape award in Ny and he relocated to Brooklyn and pursued his solo career under the moniker Dj Power “The Soul Controller”. He consistently released his cd compilations to rave reviews including “Return of the Crime Minister” with artist Vybz Kartel featured in the NY Times. In 2007 he launched his syndicated “Outta Control Radio” show with BET host Mad Linx in several different countries. In 2008 after producing the acclaimed “Why I’m Hot” cd with Junior Reid featuring the platinum smash “This is Why I’m Hot” with Mims the two united on worldwide tours. In 2010 he released his “Waving Flag” remix by Knaan ft. Machel Montano the Coca Cola world cup anthem. Since then he has released the single and video “Fly So High” featuring Machel Montano and Kardinal Offishall , “Skyrocket” with Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire, and “Reason to Live” with Honorebel which reached #3 in Italy and was featured on an episode of E! Networks “Rich Kids in Beverly Hills”. His release “Warriors” with Junior Reid and Uk’s Nightcrashers received critical acclaim and he is set to release a new single “Kingdom” with grammy nominated Common Kings and Walshy Fire (Major Lazer) with an EP to follow.
