Too short. No one has made more hip hop albums than Too Short. No one has been in the game for so long and has consistently remained on top. Love him or hate him, there is no disputing Too Shorts' place in hip hop history as one of the most important, and perhaps most influential rapper of the genre.
As you look through Too Shorts (or Todd Shaws) extensive body of work, it is hard to miss the raw sexuality of many of his songs. And yes, his sex-raps are what his name is synonymous with, but there is more his music that signify his importance to hip hop. His trade mark funk sound is too often overlooked as laying the foundation for the so called West Coast Sound of hip hop. Dr Dre, Cube and NWA were all preceded by Too Short in there use of Funk samples and funk music. Before even having signed a record deal, Short was spittin sex-raps way before even Luke and the Too Live Crew made a name for them selves.

Todd Shaw was certainly unique in the business minded aproach he took to making tapes and hawking them on the streets to put money in his pocket - while all around him drugs were the only real alternative - and at the same time making a name for himself as an artist. Todd Shaw has been in the rap game long enough to make it to retirement and back, without ever having to change his style. Despite having been born in L.A. and currently having based himself in Atlanta, Todd Shaw's character Too Short will always be a son of Oakland.
Don't be quick to dismiss Too Short as simply as a sexist and insignificant rapper, most of his fans are women. If you don't like him, you won't have come this far anyway. Even though you will hardly see Too Short on MTV, it is important to know that Too Short has given more to the music that is Hip Hop than just the word Biyeach.
